GPS tracking has become one of the standard tools to increase overall efficiency of the businesses which use transportation heavily. However, you should understand the essential functions of effective, modern GPS fleet tracking clearly before making a decision on gps tracking company:

First of all, the system should be available for 24 hrs a day and generate the instant tracking reports on where fleet vehicles are located, very fast.

The system should allow fleet managers to set customized landmarks and know about the stops, delays of fleet drivers as a report, preferably as an alert which are defined on these values. Ability to get these alerts while you are not at computer, such as an sms or emails for mobile phones.

Top notch fuel consumption calculation to decrease costs which are result of several factors like vehicle route, speed, idle driver time, stops.

It should support Google Maps with customizations.

High fleet tracking availability for managers, preferably by simply Internet browser usage.

Auto-calculations on labor time of drivers.

Ability to define virtual GeoFences. GeoFences allow managers to define area boundaries for vehicles assuring that the fleet vehicles do not go outside of these boundaries. If such action occurs, the system should send an alert to the manager with details.

.. and finally, the most important factor is the correct choice of gps company in terms of contract length, gps device prices and with no minimum purchase obligations. I would suggest Track What Matters as a great solution for efficient gps vehicle tracking at the competitive low market prices. Read the details on their website to see the advantages of their gps plans above other companies.

I warn you beforehand. It is not a review of the cheap, soft bike cases which are open to much abuse by baggage handlers and do not guarantee the damage on transit. Instead, I will inform you about the best durable hard bike cases on which their quality was approved by many years.

The first and ultimate option is buying Thule 699 Round Trip Bicycle Travel Case.

This is a gem for serious bike owners. Super rugged polyethylene construction totally eliminates the shocks and even the largest direct hits. It is a large bike case. A standard road or mountain bike will easily fit inside. You even get plenty of free place for other accessories. It has sturdy strap system, wheels and additional lock for more security.

The only downside can be the payments at certain airlines for overweight baggage because Thule 699 bike case is 33lbs when empty. To prevent such situtations, many customers suggest carrying seat and pedals separately on another carryon bag.

Overall, if your bike is your everyhing and don’t care for possible overweight airlines tariffs, go buy it at Amazon. Amazon applies 20% savings on this most durable bike case ever. Read more details at Amazon product page.

Serfas Bike Transport Case is the alternative option. Actually, many bike owners choose either Thule or Serfas cargo bike cases. Serfas bike case is made from hard-plastic shell. It is like an armor in reality. The case has internal straps and a few foams to keep the bike pieces tightly. This hard bike case also has wheels and two side locks which differentiates from Thule 699 model.
Overall, similar features to the Thule. Note that this one is a bit more pricy though.

Current trends show that mobile broadband usage is increasing in a fast pace and it is destined to be the standard of the future. People want to freely surf internet, connect with friends with their laptops without the tiresome process of seeking a wi-fi spot around. I will first briefly explain what mobile broadband connection is and the difference from traditional wi-fi or 3G networks of smart phones. By using mobile networks with a USB dongle or on-board laptop modem, we are able to connect internet wherever we may be; at home, in the office, on airport, near a beach or in a park. All we need is a mobile broadband service and laptop. So, full mobile internet connectivity especially makes it a perfect choice for Internet professionals who earn their living online, businessmen who travel much and Internet fans who need to communicate anytime, anywhere.

Since mobile broadband is a very promising and fast-paced developing technology, many companies compete to each other heavily with attractive mobile broadband deals. Most mobile broadband services now even offer free laptops with long-range contracts. We will talk about it in detail soon. But before that, I should explain how you would find the best mobile broadband deal. As a customer, taking advantage of the competitive sector is possible by thoroughly comparing the offers from multiple service providers. The best mobile broadband comparison website I could find is Broadband Expert. Their website works by listing top mobile broadband deals from established companies from UK, US and Australia in every detail.

For UK, you can get the best deals from O2, Orange, 3, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Virgin, as they are also biggest mobile phone networks of UK. As of April 2010, the top speed is 7.2 Mb offered on 0,5 GB to 15 GB download limit range. If you are a very busy blogger & entrepreneur like me, you would require the getting the best which is around £25 monthly. 15GB seems much, but actually not. If you make a contract for 1GB and over-use it, you will get extra bills. So, make your monthly data download size estimate realistically. Remember that advertised speed is theoretical top limit, so it can differ in real life usage. You should be also comparing coverage of each deal according to your post code. Speed & coverage will give you a more tangible idea. The more lengthy you sign the contract, the more discount you get as it is natural to any business and it opens the opportunity to get a free laptop with the contract. You can start with a pay as you go contract and change it into a lengthy contract after you become satisfied with your service. Contracts are generally 12 to 24 months.

Let’s now talk about free laptop opportunities when you buy a mobile broadband. I see that Vodafone, 3 and T-Mobile have really good deals. For example, 3 offers a free HP Pavilion DM3 on 3.6 MB, 5GB 24 months contract. 13.3 inch HD display laptop is powered by AMD Athlon Dual Core 1.6 Ghz processor and 4GB memory, 320 GB hard drive are other features. Monthly contract value is £40. For 12 months it would be around £800. Considering that HP Pavilion DM3 is sold around £500, it is really logical to jump this contract if you already have plans to buy a nice laptop as well.

If you are from US, you should check mobile broadband providers here. As you can guess, it is possible to compare all best deals from top companies like at&t, Verizon wireless, sprint, T-mobile etc.

Start taking advantage of mobile broadband for your business and/or personal life today.

Swedish super car manufacturer Koenigsegg had unveiled their new toy Quant, in 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The Koenigsegg Quant is a solar-electric powered four person speed vehicle which will reach 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. 275 km/h is also reported as the top speed limit of the sports car. The energy comes from photovoltaic thin solar film which covers all the surface of the car. The company now reported that they will start manufacturing the Quant very soon. It would be superb if the sports car would also go under the water like Rinspeed Squba

It is sure that only a handful lucky people can buy this sports car since Koenigsegg manufactures their cars in very small numbers and high prices.

It is a strange feeling to look at a strategy board game table which Vikings and other Northern European people actually played for centuries starting around 400 AD. A game of war where the sides are not even equal! The center king’s objective was to escape to the board’s periphery or corners, while the greater force’s objective was to capture him. There is no luck in the game, only strategy. The game rules are mostly known due to medieval sagas and adapted to modern world with addition a few rules to balance both sides. There are many variants of this ancient game.

I have found a handmade stone Hnefatafl (King’s table) board at Etsy.

When you look at the shoes photo below, I am sure you will suddenly feel running like Usain Bolt or climbing your favorite mountain crazily. Let’s confess honestly, eventhough we don’t make sports well it would be so attractive to wear a pair of Vibram 5 Fingers on our dirty city streets. Seriously, it is something like walking barefoot and can be useful in places where you are not allowed in shoes. The company states that their shoes not only provide lightness and protection but also helps conditioning more than 100 muscles in the foot and covering each toes seperately. We well spend money on stylish iPhone cases, why not throwing a few bucks more for sportive silicone foot cases :)

A technology company named as Virgin Galactic (which owned also famous recording and music company Virgin Records before) makes serious steps to start their space tourism flights with the latest successful tests of rocket motor which will send their ship SpaceShipTwo into suborbital space. This motor uses hybrid Nitrous Oxide system to pass the 4000kmh and capable of sending amateur astronauts to approx. 110km from the Earth surface. The company states that the motor is totally controllable and safe eventhough it operates in the extreme speeds.

SpaceShipTwo Space Rocket

Interestingly, SpaceShipTwo will be launched to space from upper atmosphere making the launch environmentally less destructive while the traditional ground-launch spaceships contribute to pollution in higher degrees.

In their official website Virgin Galactic, there is an application form for space flight booking. Hey, it is ironically cheap for total silence of space, non-gravity and saying a hi to blue sphere from far, at least for me :) Be quick to make your reservation. It will cost you $200,000 for a ticket and $20,000 deposit is enough for a guaranteed seat. I hope amateur commercial flights to space will not stay as a dream for long.

I have decided to blog about surely the simplest, but most probably one the most creative building blocks of all times, LEGO. The aim of this article is to give information about some interesting facts about LEGO cool toys and company, and some world record holding figures created by hobbyists.

  • Well first of all, it is a Danish creation. LEGO (LEg GOdt) means “Play Well” in Danish, later the founder of the company discovered that it can be translated as “I put together” in Latin. What to say more? Linguistics science were supporting them naturally to their big successful fate, luckily for inspirational toy lovers.
  • Young Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen LegoFounded in 1932, Started as a carpenter’s small wooden toys shop. Named as LEGO in 1934. Currently, the third generation grandson Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen rules the LEGO empire. One of the richest in the world, owning $3.3 billion fortune. His parents used his child photos even on some LEGO products as you can see one of them on the left.
  • The world famous LEGO automatic binding bricks are not invented by LEGO company itself. They were very closely inspired by KiddiCraft building blocks, near to copying, but with getting partial rights. Here is the first building blocks patent photo and 1949 first LEGO bricks. LEGO later bought all the rights in 1981. First Lego Bricks SetK?ddiCraft Building Blocks - First SetFirst Building Blocks PatentUnfortunately, the original patent owner, Hilary Harry Fisher Page committed suicide in 1957, not seeing the huge success of his creation.
  • Some LEGO Records
Tallest Lego Tower in Nasu Highland Park in Japan. Built using around 430,000 pieces and it is around 29 meters long. It is a very fast expiring record because hobbyist build almost each year taller Lego towers from the previous record holder. Surely, Japanese are tough rivals for beating on gadget records !

  • Longest Lego, according to my research. This 1,5 kilometers long snake is in Italy. Around an impressive 2,900,000 bricks are used. Built in 2005. Link
  • Fastest time to build LEGO Star Destroyer. Yeah, it is just one of the hundreds of funny LEGO object building records. 3,100 pieces Lego set was built in 50 minutes with a group of up to five people in 2005. Dare to build another monster, LEGO Star Wars Death Star ? Not easy, it needs a nice amount of money just to start your career as a LEGO builder.
